Probably, the best place I've been, I've ever travelled to, would be Kyoto in Japan.
It's completely different to anywhere else I've ever travelled to. It's an absolutely gorgeous city, based around an old feudal castle. There's lots of feudal temples, wonderful old buildings that architecturally are so far removed from their European counterparts, that they're fascinating.
Obviously the religion is different out there. Everything is so far from what we're used to. It was a really great kind of culture shock.
We enjoyed some time in a sake bar. With a very patient bar man, who put up with our very limited Japanese. And we explored probably more sake than what we should have.
And we stayed in a capsule hotel as well. So a real juxtaposition of the old town in Kyoto, and the new in the capsule hotel and the modern shopping areas in Kyoto.
So it was a really wonderful couple of days there. It was part of a longer trip to Japan. We came in on the bullet train as well which was something that was really special for me, because it's something I've always wanted to do.
